each collection is an ecosystem where our people feel cared for, understood and nurtured in their craft.
we hope through reading these poems you gain an understanding of the nine lives who created them.
meet the team -
holly rowsell (she/her) is the founder of nine lives! she is a poet, lover of cherries and student of philosophy and gender who lives in te whanganui-a-tara. you can find her work in catalyst, sweet mammalian and tarot, among other journals.
kieran trainor (they/them) is an artist, writer and sun seeker. they run a blog called sun guts that explores research in queer ecological thought and anecdotal experience. both their art and their poetry explores place, animality and that third, nature-given space where we all go to be born again. they live in te whanganui-a-tara where they amble between museums and the oceans.
mauatua (they/she) is a mā'ohi-norf'k writer based in te whanganui-a-tara, and is currently doing their masters in creative writing at the iiml. Their work is fuelled by the stories, landscapes and lineages they descend from.
